A smartwatch is a wearable device designed in the form of a wristwatch, equipped with computing capabilities. Modern smartwatches feature a touchscreen interface that allows users to interact with various functions directly from their wrists, while complementary smartphone apps enable seamless management and telemetry, such as long-term health monitoring.

While early iterations of smartwatches offered basic functionalities like calculations, timekeeping, translations, and simple games, the smartwatches of the 2010s have evolved to provide a wide range of features akin to smartphones. These include the ability to run mobile apps, operate on mobile operating systems, and connect via WiFi or Bluetooth for enhanced functionality.

In addition to serving as extensions of smartphones, some smartwatches double as portable media players, enabling users to listen to FM radio and play digital audio and video files using Bluetooth-enabled headphones. Furthermore, certain models, known as 'watch phones' or vice versa, incorporate mobile cellular capabilities, allowing users to make calls directly from their wrist.

The popularity of smartwatches, alongside smart bands and fitness trackers, has surged in Bangladesh since 2020. These wearable devices offer users a convenient way to stay connected, track their fitness goals, and access essential information on the go, contributing to a more connected and health-conscious lifestyle.
